Go birding, support the arts
A “Birding for the Arts” outing in Haywood County will be held from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday, May 7.
The Blue Ridge Mountains have become the summer-nesting sanctuary for many neo-tropical varieties, as well as those birds that are here year around. Join local birders Joe Sam and Kate Queen and naturalist Don Hendershot as you stroll through orchards, around lakes, and over mountains to watch and listen. The outing will raise money for the Haywood County Arts Council.
Bring binoculars and rain poncho. Light hiking is involved. Tickets are $25 per person; participation is limited to thirty-five partygoers, and the registration deadline is Thursday, May 5.
