Mountain BizWorks will offer Foundations, an eight-week planning course starting Feb. 1 at the Oak Park Inn Conference Center in Waynesville.

The next Facebook for Business workshop, “How to Bling Your Facebook Page,” will be held from 6 to 8 p.m, Jan. 31, at The Classic Wineseller, on Church Street in Waynesville.
The two-hour workshop is geared toward businesses that already have a Facebook page and want to learn how to make their page more appealing.
Classes are limited to 10 participants who should bring their laptops. Cost is $20.

The Haywood County Chamber of Commerce has launched its mobile web application. Through this technology, visitors can find a business, get detailed maps and driving directions, read profiles, view pictures and video, and contact a business.

Angel Medical Center in Franklin has announced that Lisa Finley has joined their patient care team as director of Med/Surg.
Finley comes to AMC from the South Florida Baptist Hospital in Plant City, Florida.

The fashion show will begin 11:30 a.m. at the Gateway Club and will feature the spring and summer color palette and the new trends.

The Evergreen Foundation recently awarded The Arc of Haywood a grant for $36,500, which will provide half of the funds needed to replace two vans for the nonprofit agency.
One vehicle will be used to transport individuals living in the community, and the other will be used for the Woodlawn Intermediate Care Facility, which provides residential services to individuals with severe intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The Small Business Center at Haywood Community College has formed a partnership with the N.C. Rural Economic Development Center to make loans of up to $25,000 available for the startup or expansion of rural businesses.
The center’s N.C. Microenterprise Loan Program often works with individuals who may not qualify for traditional bank loans.
Loans are available for $500 to $25,000, with terms of one to five years. Interest is charged at prime plus 4 percent.

Casey Queen, co-owner of The Queen’s Junque, and John Miele, co-owner of The Golden Carp, recently presented a $555 donation for CARE, a humanitarian organization fighting poverty in more than 70 countries, to Jennifer Cooper, co-chair of the WCU Poverty Project.
The donation, which was made in support of the WCU Poverty Project, represented a percentage of sales in the town during the Dillsboro Lights and Luminaries celebration in December.

MedWest-Haywood in Clyde and MedWest-Harris in Sylva have earned the American College of Radiology Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Accreditation and Computed Tomography (CT) Accreditation. American College of Radiology Accreditation is considered the gold standard in imaging services accreditation.
