• Mission Health System in Asheville has selected Ronald A. Paulus, M.D., MBA, to be the new president and CEO of Mission Health System and Mission Hospital.

• Haywood Family Medicine is joining Mission Medical Associates, the physician group practice of Mission Health System.
• The Swain County Chamber of Commerce visitor center is now open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays.
• The Women’s Care Center of Haywood Regional Medical Center has added keepsake T-shirts for babies and an amenities package for new mothers, funded by the Haywood Regional Medical Center Foundation.
• The 2010 Haywood County Awards for Outstanding Volunteers were given out to the Waynesville Kiwanis Club, Evergreen Packaging Santa Pal Christmas Baskets Program, Chris Cutting of Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation, Arnold Howell with Mountain Mediation and Haywood Community Connections and Tom Posey for his volunteer work through Rotary, the Haywood County School Foundation, United Way and many others.
