In the works for nearly a year, the project involved surveys of the area by the Nantahala Area Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association, collaboration with a signmaker and oversight by the U.S. Forest Service to ensure accuracy.
“Hopefully this means no more hikers, bikers, trail runners or horseback riders getting lost on the trail complex,” said Karl Haiss, Nantahala SORBA Trail Liaison. “These new trail maps unlock the magic of Tsali for all users.”
The maps were installed in April at every trail intersection, with each one including a “You Are Here” icon and a unique number that rescue and Forest Service personnel can use to pinpoint locations.
