Canton Middle student designs winning T-shirt

Canton Middle School student Alyssa Smith won first place in the annual Kids in the Creek art contest, winning a $35 Visa gift card and a tour of Rikki Tikki Tees Screen Printing and Design, where her design will be printed on T-shirts to be worn by all Haywood County eighth graders.

Every eighth-grade student who attends Haywood Waterways Association’s annual Kids in the Creek environmental education event receives a free T-shirt designed by one of their fellow students. All students are encouraged to submit designs, and HWA members vote to decide the winner.

Coming in second was Waynesville Middle School student Joseph Quinn, and Sarah Cronk of Waynesville Middle School took third. Prizes were donated by Rikki Tikki Tees, HomeTrust Bank, Jukebox Junction Restaurant & Soda Shoppe and Jack the Dipper Ice Cream Parlor.
