Drake Software expands to Waynesville

An economic development venture previously referred to as “Project Duck Call” has been revealed to be a new call center for Drake Software LLC.

Located on Depot Street in downtown Waynesville, the expansion will bring 40 jobs within three years, and 20 more within five years. Drake provides tax preparation software and is one of Western North Carolina’s largest employers. Previously, the company had no footprint in Haywood County. On July 19, Haywood County commissioners will hold a public hearing to consider granting economic development incentives to Drake that would result in a 48 to 58 percent rebate of property taxes paid by Drake over the next five fiscal years. The incentives are based on the county’s economic development policy, which determines the amount of incentives on a sliding scale commensurate with the number of jobs created, the amount of capital investment, and other factors. Drake offers competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package. Those wishing to work for Drake Software LLC should visit www.drakesoftware.com or call 828.349.5700, extension 4302. The new Waynesville facility is expected to open in August.
