Winter begins on the Parkway

Winter begins on the Parkway

Winter has started on the Blue Ridge Parkway, with some seasonal closures in effect and the first round of snow-related road closures taking place last week.

Mt. Pisgah Inn, Mt. Pisgah and Craggy Gardens picnic areas, and Mt. Pisgah Campground are all closed for the season. The Waterrock Knob Visitor Center will close Nov. 14.

Last week’s cold, wet weather resulted in winter conditions on the Parkway, triggering a complete closure of the road from U.S. 276 through its terminus in Cherokee. As of press time, the road had reopened.

For updated road closures, visit nps.gov/blri/planyourvisit/roadclosures.htm.
