Cooper appoints new clean energy director

Peter Holderness Ledford has been appointed as North Carolina’s new clean energy director, Gov. Roy Cooper announced July 27.

Ledford, who currently serves as general counsel and director of policy at the N.C. Sustainable Energy Association, will be tasked with pursuing state goals outlined in Executive Order 246, including achieving carbon neutrality, pursuing environmental justice for communities disproportionately impacted by pollution and creating economic opportunities in the clean energy sector.

Ledford replaces Dionne Delli-Gatti, who was appointed in June 2021 but left earlier this year for a senior role at the Environmental Defense Fund.
